Descrição
Caridina babaulti is a 2-3 cm shrimp, olive to bright green, sometimes with stripes. It is very peaceful and shy. It feeds on algae, biofilm, and microorganisms. It lives in groups and breeds in freshwater, but the larvae are planktonic and require very clean water. It is less common in the hobby than Neocaridina.

The green shrimp inhabits slow-moving streams and ponds in Southeast Asia, with abundant vegetation and a leaf litter bottom. The water is soft and slightly acidic. It hides among plants and roots.

Parameters: temperature 22-28°C, pH 6.0-7.0, GH 3-6, KH 1-3. A planted tank with moss and leaf litter is recommended. Feed with fine foods and vegetables. Breeding is possible if water is stable and rich in microfauna. Avoid predatory fish. Sensitive to high nitrates.
