The flame angelfish is a small dwarf angelfish with a bright orange-red body and vertical black bars. It is one of the most popular angelfish in marine aquariums.
Descrição
This fish reaches about 12 cm in adulthood. Its base color is a brilliant orange-red, crossed by four to five vertical black bars. The dorsal and anal fins are edged in electric blue. The caudal fin is translucent yellow. It has a laterally compressed body and a small mouth. It is an active and curious fish, spending its time grazing algae on rocks. It can be territorial towards other angelfish. In the aquarium, it is generally hardy but requires careful acclimation. It is considered relatively reef-safe, but may nip at some soft corals.

Temperature 24-28°C, pH 8.1-8.4, salinity 1.020-1.025. A minimum tank volume of 150 liters is recommended. The aquarium should be well decorated with live rock for grazing and hiding places. It is omnivorous with a herbivorous tendency: algae (nori, spirulina), mysis, brine shrimp, and angelfish-specific foods. It can be kept alone or as a pair. Avoid cohabitation with other Centropyge or similarly shaped fish. It is generally compatible with peaceful fish. Efficient filtration and regular water changes are necessary. It is sensitive to high nitrates and phosphates. Slow acclimation is recommended to reduce stress.
