Descrição

The two-spot cichlid can reach 20 cm. Its body is oval and laterally compressed, gray-green with two distinctive black spots: one on the gill cover and one mid-body. Males are larger and develop a nuchal hump. It is territorial and aggressive, especially during breeding. It lives in pairs and digs the substrate. In the aquarium, it needs hiding places and a large volume.

Requires at least 200 liters for a pair. Neutral to slightly acidic water (pH 6-7.5), temperature 24-28°C, GH 5-15. Omnivorous diet: pellets, worms, vegetables. Compatible with other robust cichlids of similar size, but avoid small fish. Sandy substrate and rocks are appreciated. Breeding is easy, parents protect eggs and fry. Keep nitrates below 30 mg/L and phosphates below 1 mg/L.
