The Spotted Danio grows to about 4 cm. Its body is elongated and laterally compressed, silvery with a series of black spots aligned along the flanks. The fins are translucent. It is a schooling fish that swims at the surface and mid-water. It is very lively and curious, constantly exploring its environment. In a group, it shows hierarchy behaviors. Its small size makes it ideal for nano-aquariums. It is hardy and adapts to various water conditions.

Temperature between 22 and 26°C, pH 6.0 to 7.5, GH 5 to 12. A tank of at least 40 liters is sufficient for a group of 6 to 8 individuals. Water must be well filtered and oxygenated. Feed with fine flakes, micro-pellets, and live foods like daphnia. This fish is peaceful and compatible with other small fish such as tetras or corydoras. Avoid slow-moving or long-finned species that may be stressed. Weekly water changes of 20% are recommended. Breeding is easy: eggs are scattered among plants.
