Descrição

This tetra reaches about 4 cm in adulthood. Its body is elongated and slightly laterally compressed, with a silvery hue and bluish reflections. The caudal fin has a characteristic orange-red coloration. A faint dark lateral line is sometimes visible. It is very active and swims in tight schools. In the aquarium, it usually stays in the mid-water zone. It is a hardy and easy-to-keep species.

Notas de cuidados

Keep this tetra in a group of at least 6 individuals in a minimum 60-liter tank. Water should be soft and acidic to neutral (pH 5.5-7.5, GH 2-15). Ideal temperature is between 23 and 28°C. Gentle filtration and subdued lighting are recommended. Diet is omnivorous: accepts flakes, micro-pellets, brine shrimp, and daphnia. Avoid strong currents. Plant the aquarium densely with open swimming areas. It is a peaceful fish compatible with other small tetras, corydoras, and rasboras.
