Fuelleborn's Cichlid

Labeotropheus fuelleborni is characterized by a subterminal beak-like mouth adapted for grazing algae on rocks. Its body is stocky and laterally compressed. Males are bright blue with dark vertical bars, while females are brownish-yellow with variable patterns. It reaches 12–15 cm. It is a very active and territorial fish, often aggressive towards other Mbuna. In the wild, it lives in wave-swept rocky areas of Lake Malawi, feeding on algae. In the aquarium, it requires strong water flow and well-oxygenated water. Reproduction is maternal mouthbrooding.
