Descrição

This species reaches about 8–10 cm. Males are generally light blue with dark vertical bars, females are brownish. Its body is elongated and mouth downward-facing. It is territorial and aggressive, like most mbunas. It feeds on algae and biofilm on rocks. Reproduction is by maternal mouthbrooding. Little information is available on its precise ecology.

Water parameters similar to other mbunas: 24–28°C, pH 7.5–8.5, GH 10–20. A minimum 120-liter tank is recommended. Herbivorous diet based on spirulina and vegetables. Aggressive behavior, keep with robust species. Provide rocky hiding places. Regular water changes. Efficient filtration.
