The Picasso triggerfish has an oval laterally compressed body, with patterns of blue, yellow, and black lines. It has an erectile dorsal spine. It is known for its curious and sometimes aggressive behavior. It can recognize its owner and beg for food. In aquariums, it needs plenty of space and rocks to hide. It can reach 30 cm.

Minimum tank volume 400 liters. Temperature 24-28°C, pH 8.1-8.4, alkalinity 8-12 dKH. Diet: omnivorous, will accept frozen foods, shrimp, fish pieces, and algae. Moderately aggressive, can coexist with other robust fish. Avoid invertebrates. Needs hiding places and sandy substrate. May jump, so a lid is necessary.
