Description
Caridina multidentata is a medium-sized shrimp (3-5 cm), gray-brown with dark spots and lines. It is very active and peaceful. It is one of the best algae eaters, also consuming detritus. It needs a group to feel secure. Its reproduction requires brackish water, making it difficult in freshwater aquariums.

Amano shrimp live in coastal streams and rivers with moderate current, often with dense vegetation and rocky bottoms. The water is fresh to slightly brackish in estuarine areas. They migrate to brackish water for breeding.

Care notes
Easy to keep: temperature 20-28°C, pH 6.5-7.5, GH 4-10. A planted tank with hiding places and good flow is ideal. Feed with algae, vegetables, and supplements. It can coexist with peaceful fish. Breeding in freshwater is nearly impossible; larvae need brackish water. Beware of jumping, cover the tank.
