Description
Carnegiella vesca is a small fish reaching up to 3 cm. Its body is strongly laterally compressed with large wing-like pectoral fins. It has a silvery coloration with bluish reflections and a dark horizontal line. It is a surface-dwelling fish that stays near the water surface. It can jump out of the water to catch insects. Its schooling behavior requires the presence of conspecifics. It is sensitive to water quality and prefers soft, acidic water.

Care notes
Keep in an aquarium of at least 60 liters with a large surface area. Water should be soft (GH 2-10) and acidic (pH 5.5-7.0) with a temperature of 24-28°C. A tight-fitting lid is essential as this fish jumps. The aquarium should be planted with floating plants to provide shaded areas. Diet: small insects, brine shrimp, daphnia, and fine dry food. Compatible with other small peaceful blackwater fish. Schooling species, keep in groups of at least 6. Avoid strong currents.
