Description
Crenicichla lenticulata is a medium to large cichlid, reaching 25 cm. Its body is elongated, typical of pike cichlids, with a brown-green base color and rows of light spots. The dorsal and caudal fins are adorned with ocellated patterns. It is an ambush predator that hunts by stealth. In the aquarium, it is very territorial, especially towards conspecifics. It is best kept alone or as a pair in a species-specific tank. Its active behavior and need for hiding places make it a fascinating fish for experienced aquarists.

Care notes
Minimum tank size 300 liters for one specimen, 500 liters for a pair. Temperature 24-28°C, pH 5.5-7.0, GH 2-10, KH 1-5. Carnivorous diet: fish, shrimp, worms, cichlid pellets. Decor should include rocks, roots, and sturdy plants. Powerful filtration required. Only compatible with similarly sized robust fish. Weekly water changes of 30%. Beware of jumping, cover the tank.
