Description
Garra flavatra reaches 6–8 cm. Its body is elongated, with a white to yellowish background marked with broad vertical black bands, reminiscent of a panda. The mouth is sucker-shaped. It has transparent fins. It is a very active fish that spends its time grazing algae on rocks. It is gregarious and must be kept in groups. It is peaceful but can be lively. In the aquarium, it requires strong current and highly oxygenated water. It is sensitive to organic pollution.

Care notes
A minimum 60-liter aquarium is sufficient for a small group, but a larger volume is preferable. Water should be cool and well oxygenated: temperature 20–26 °C, pH 6.5–7.5, GH 5–15, KH 3–10. Strong current is essential, achieved with a circulation pump. Substrate can be gravel or pebbles. Add many smooth rocks for grazing. Feed with algae, blanched spinach, pellets, and frozen foods. Change 30% water weekly. Avoid slow or bottom-dwelling fish. Breeding is difficult in captivity.
