Lamarck's Angelfish is a slender and peaceful angelfish, ideal for community reef aquariums. It is distinguished by its long lyre-shaped caudal fins.
Description
Genicanthus lamarck has an elongated, compressed body, with a forked caudal fin bearing filamentous extensions. Males have a white body with vertical black bars and a yellow spot on the back; females are darker with white spots. This species reaches 20 cm. It is gregarious and can be kept in groups. Its diet is planktivorous, feeding on zooplankton and small invertebrates. In aquariums, it is very active and swims in open water. It is one of the easiest angelfish to keep.

Care notes
Temperature 24-28°C, pH 8.1-8.4, salinity 1.020-1.025. A minimum tank size of 250 liters is recommended. Prefer an elongated tank with good flow. Diet should be rich in plankton, brine shrimp, and mysis. It can coexist with other peaceful fish. Avoid aggressive angelfish. Water parameters must be stable, nitrates <20 mg/L. Moderate lighting is suitable. Captive breeding is possible but rare.
