The Pennant Coralfish is an elegant fish with a long pennant-like dorsal fin. It is popular in reef aquariums as it does not eat corals.
Description
Heniochus acuminatus has a laterally compressed body, white with two broad vertical black bands. The dorsal fin is very elongated, forming a long filament. The caudal fin is yellow. It swims in groups in the wild and is very active. In an aquarium, it is peaceful and can be kept with other fish. It feeds mainly on plankton and small invertebrates. It is considered reef-safe as it does not attack corals. Its lifespan can reach 10 years.

Care notes
An aquarium of at least 300 liters is recommended, with open swimming space. Water parameters must be stable: temperature 24-28°C, pH 8.1-8.4. It is omnivorous with a planktivorous tendency, accepting frozen and dry foods. It is important to provide a varied diet including mysis and brine shrimp. It can be kept in groups if the tank is large enough. It is compatible with corals and invertebrates. Avoid aggressive fish. Good filtration and moderate water flow are appreciated. Captive breeding is rare.
