The Brichardi cichlid is a small cichlid from Lake Tanganyika, known for its complex social behavior and colonial breeding.
Description
Neolamprologus brichardi has an elongated, slender body, beige to light brown with bluish reflections. The fins are edged in white. It reaches up to 8 cm. It is a schooling fish that lives in structured colonies. It is territorial but can coexist with other peaceful species. It spawns in caves and parents protect the fry.

This cichlid lives in rocky areas of Lake Tanganyika, between 5 and 30 meters deep. It hides in crevices and feeds on plankton and small invertebrates. The water is alkaline and hard.

Care notes
Aquarium of at least 150 L with plenty of rocks and caves. Alkaline water (pH 7.8-8.5), hard (GH 10-20), temperature 24-27°C. They are omnivorous: accept flakes, pellets, artemia, and small worms. Keep a group of at least 6 to observe their social behavior. Avoid overly large or aggressive fish. Breeding is easy in the aquarium.
