Suenson's brittle star is a small filter-feeding and detritivorous brittle star, common in Caribbean reefs.
Description
This brittle star has a small central disc and five thin, spiny arms. Its coloration is variable, often with bands or spots. It is nocturnal and hides in sponges or crevices. It feeds by filtering plankton and picking up detritus. Its arms are very fragile and regenerate easily. It reaches about 10 cm in diameter. It is a peaceful species ideal for reef aquariums.

Care notes
Temperature 24-28°C, pH 8.1-8.4, salinity 1.023-1.025. A minimum tank size of 50 liters is suitable. It feeds on detritus and plankton, but can be supplemented with filter-feeder foods. Low to moderate lighting and moderate flow are recommended. Sandy substrate and live rock are important. It is compatible with most fish and invertebrates. Captive breeding is possible but rare.
