Description

The Pearl gourami reaches 12 cm. Its body is silvery with iridescent reflections and white spots resembling pearls. Males develop an orange-red throat during breeding. It has a labyrinth organ. It is a gregarious fish that lives in groups. It is shy and appreciates planted areas. It builds a bubble nest. Its lifespan is 4 to 5 years.

Ideal temperature: 24-28°C, pH 6.0-7.5. A minimum tank size of 80 liters is recommended for a group. Water should be soft to moderately hard (GH 4-10). Provide a varied diet: flakes, pellets, brine shrimp, bloodworms. Plant densely and leave open swimming areas. Avoid strong currents. Compatible with other peaceful fish. Males can be territorial with each other; it is best to keep one male or a group with several females. A lid is necessary.
