Acropora tenuis is a branching SPS coral, prized in reef aquariums for its vibrant colors and fast growth.
Description
Acropora tenuis forms arborescent colonies with thin, slender branches, often colored blue, purple, green, or brown. The polyps are small and retractable, with short tentacles. Branches can reach 30 cm in length in aquariums. Growth is rapid under good conditions. There is no visible sexual dimorphism, but colonies can be male or female.

This species is found on shallow coral reefs, typically between 3 and 20 meters depth. It prefers areas with strong water flow and intense light. It is often encountered on exposed reef slopes with good current. It forms dense, branching colonies.

Care notes
A tank of at least 200 liters is recommended, with intense lighting (LED or metal halide) and strong flow. Parameters must be stable: temperature 24-28°C, pH 8.1-8.4, salinity 1.023-1.025, calcium 400-450 ppm, magnesium 1250-1350 ppm, KH 8-12 dKH, nitrates <5 ppm, phosphates <0.05 ppm. It is photosynthetic but appreciates zooplankton feeding. Compatible with other SPS corals, but avoid soft corals that release toxins. Beware of polychaete worms and grazing fish.
