Potter's angelfish is a small dwarf angelfish endemic to Hawaii, with a blue-violet body and orange highlights. It is highly prized for its beauty and relative rarity.
Description
This fish reaches about 10 cm in adulthood. Its coloration is complex: the body is dark blue-violet with orange-edged scales, giving a reticulated appearance. The head is bright orange, and the dorsal and anal fins are edged in light blue. The caudal fin is orange. It has a laterally compressed body and a small mouth. It is an active fish that grazes algae on rocks. It is territorial but less aggressive than other Centropyge. In the aquarium, it adapts well but may be shy initially. It is considered reef-safe with caution.

Care notes
Temperature 24-28°C, pH 8.1-8.4, salinity 1.020-1.025. A minimum tank volume of 150 liters is recommended. The aquarium should have plenty of live rock for grazing and hiding places. It is omnivorous with a herbivorous tendency: algae (nori, spirulina), mysis, brine shrimp, and specific foods. It can be kept alone or as a pair. Avoid cohabitation with other Centropyge. It is compatible with peaceful fish. Efficient filtration and regular water changes are necessary. It is sensitive to water quality, especially nitrates. Slow acclimation is recommended.
