Description

Corydoras aeneus Venezuela reaches 6-7 cm. Its body is stocky, covered with bony plates, with a bronze to metallic green base color. A dark longitudinal stripe runs along the flanks. The fins are translucent. It is a gregarious bottom-dweller that lives in groups of at least 6. It is very active during the day, sifting through the substrate for food. It is completely peaceful and compatible with most fish. Its reproduction is relatively easy in the aquarium, with a characteristic courtship display.

Care notes

Minimum tank size 60 liters for a group of 6. Temperature 22-26°C, pH 6.0-7.5, GH 2-12, KH 1-5. Omnivorous diet: bottom-feeder tablets, worms, brine shrimp, vegetables. Decor with fine sand (avoid sharp gravel), roots, plants. Moderate filtration. Compatible with tetras, rasboras, guppies, other corydoras. Weekly water changes of 20%. Breeding triggered by a cool water change.
