Schwartz's Corydoras is a small peaceful catfish from Brazil. It is highly valued in community aquariums for its schooling behavior and spotted pattern.
Description
This corydoras has a stout, armored body with a beige to gray coloration covered in irregular black spots. A dark stripe runs through the eye and extends to the dorsal fin. The fins are translucent with black dots. It has sensory barbels around the mouth. Like all corydoras, it occasionally breathes at the surface using its vascularized intestine. It is a schooling species that lives in groups of 5 or more. It is active during the day and forages through the substrate for food.

Care
Care notes
Keep a group of at least 5 individuals in a tank of at least 60 liters. A fine sand substrate is essential to protect their barbels. Ideal temperature is 22–26°C, pH 6.0–7.5, GH 2–15. They accept a varied diet: sinking pellets, bottom feeder tablets, brine shrimp, and bloodworms. Avoid strong currents. Corydoras are very peaceful and compatible with most small fish. Gentle filtration and regular water changes are recommended. They spawn on glass or plants, and eggs hatch in 3–5 days.
