A small black-and-white striped pleco, iconic and threatened, highly sought after by aquarists.
Description
L046 is a small fish (10 cm) with an elongated and flattened body. Its unique coloration consists of vertical black and white bands. It has red eyes and a lyre-shaped caudal fin. It is a nocturnal and shy species, hiding in crevices. It is territorial but not aggressive towards other species. Its reproduction in aquariums is difficult. It is listed as Endangered (EN) on the IUCN Red List.

Care notes
Temperature 26-30°C, pH 6.0-7.0, GH 2-10, KH 1-5. A minimum 80-liter aquarium is recommended. Diet should be varied: carnivore tablets, brine shrimp, bloodworms, and blanched vegetables. Strong water flow is necessary. Narrow hiding places (pipes, rocks) are essential. Sensitive to water quality, requires frequent water changes. Compatible with peaceful small fish. Avoid boisterous species.
