The maroon clownfish is a colorful marine fish, recognizable by its white bands and maroon body. It lives in symbiosis with sea anemones.
Description
The body is robust and dark maroon to reddish, with three vertical white bands. The fins are rounded and the mouth is small. Males are smaller and more colorful than females. This fish is highly territorial and aggressive towards conspecifics. It forms monogamous pairs and defends its host anemone. Juveniles can change sex. It is one of the largest clownfish species.

Care notes
A minimum tank size of 200 liters is recommended. Temperature should be kept between 24-28°C, pH 8.1-8.4. Salinity of 1.020-1.025 is ideal. It is best kept with a host anemone such as Heteractis magnifica. Diet should be varied: brine shrimp, mysis, pellets. Avoid keeping with other clownfish or very small fish. It can coexist with robust fish. Water parameters must be stable.
