Euphyllia divisa is a large polyp stony coral, recognizable by its anchor-shaped tentacles. It is popular in reef aquariums for its beauty and relative hardiness.
Description
Euphyllia divisa forms massive or encrusting colonies with fleshy polyps. The tentacles are long, ending in an anchor- or club-shaped tip, often green, brown, or gray with lighter tips. The colony can reach 30 cm in diameter. It is an aggressive coral that extends stinging sweeper tentacles at night to defend its space. No visible sexual dimorphism.

Euphyllia divisa is found primarily on reef slopes and in turbid lagoon waters, often at depths of 5 to 30 meters. It prefers areas with moderate water flow and moderate to high light. It occurs on hard substrates such as rock or coral rubble. It can form large, spreading colonies.

Care notes
A minimum tank size of 100 liters is recommended for a single specimen. Ideal parameters: temperature 24-28°C, pH 8.1-8.4, salinity 1.023-1.025, calcium 400-450 mg/L, magnesium 1250-1350 mg/L, KH 8-12 dKH, nitrates <10 mg/L, phosphates <0.1 mg/L. Moderate to high lighting and moderate flow are suitable. It is photosynthetic but benefits from targeted feeding of small prey (brine shrimp, mysis). Beware of stinging tentacles: provide at least 15 cm spacing from other corals.
