Favites chinensis is a common LPS coral with massive colonies and brown to green coloration. It is very hardy and suitable for beginners.

Description
Colonies are cerioid, often encrusting or dome-shaped. Corallites are polygonal, 5–10 mm, with thick walls and irregular septa. Color is generally brown, sometimes green or gray, with lighter centers. Polyps are small and retractile. This species grows slowly but steadily. It tolerates a wide range of conditions. In aquaria, it can reach 30 cm in diameter.

Care notes
Standard parameters: temperature 24-28°C, pH 8.1-8.4, salinity 1.023-1.025. Moderate lighting (PAR 100-200) and moderate flow. Nitrates <15 ppm, phosphates <0.1 ppm. Calcium 400 ppm, magnesium 1200 ppm. Feed phytoplankton once a week. Minimum tank volume 80 liters. Very tolerant, but avoid nutrient excess. Compatible with most fish. Easy to frag.
