Description
Rasbora borapetensis grows up to 6 cm. Its body is slender, silvery with a dark lateral line. The caudal fin is intense red, hence its common name. The dorsal and anal fins are translucent. It is a gregarious fish that lives in schools. It is very active and occupies the middle water column. Its coloration intensifies with varied diet and good conditions.

This fish inhabits slow-moving forest streams, swamps, and rice paddies. The water is often murky, rich in tannins, and very soft. Dense aquatic vegetation and submerged roots provide numerous hiding places.

Care notes
Keep an aquarium of at least 80 liters for a school of 6 to 10 individuals. Ideal temperature is between 24 and 28°C, pH 6.0 to 7.0, and low hardness. Water should be well filtered but without strong current. A planted tank with shaded areas and leaf litter is appreciated. It is omnivorous, accepting flakes, micro-pellets, and live foods. Compatible with other small peaceful fish like tetras or corydoras. Avoid aggressive or overly large species.
