The archerfish is famous for its hunting technique: it shoots a precise water jet at insects perched on vegetation to knock them down.
Description
Toxotes jaculatrix reaches 20-30 cm. Its body is elongated and laterally compressed, silver to greenish with characteristic black vertical bands on the back. It has a large mouth pointing upward. It lives in small groups in estuaries and hunts at the surface. It can spit a water jet up to 2 meters to capture prey.

Minimum 400 L tank for a group, with a large open water surface. Salinity 1.005-1.015. Temperature 25-30°C, pH 7.0-8.0. It is a hunter that prefers live food (insects, small fish). Also accepts shrimp meat, meaty pellets.
